Aunt Eulalia

Aunt Eulalia

Eulalia Blanche Lawrence was born on March 26,1897
And on March 13, 1994, she went up to heaven.
I lived with Aunt Eulalia all my growing up years.
She filled my life with laughter, turmoil, and tears.
She was passionate about the Indians and giving to their missions
And you could bet that at dinner, she would instigate a division.
She went to mass daily and said the Stations of the Cross
And never got over her fiance's death, her greatest loss.
I admired her and despised her and knew she had good intentions
As she was generous to a fault in giving away most of her pension.
She love Jepardy, Hee Haw, soap operas and Lawrence Welk
And coffee loaded with extra amounts of sugar and milk.
She added a real life demension to events in recent history
And was an avid reader of books, newspapers and juicey stories.
She said the greatest invention was the electric light
And her father played his violin in the middle of the night!
She lived with my father for a good part of his life
And she was a huge cross to bear for his devoted wife.
I went to help her die peacefully in my father's home
But her spirit was still strong and not ready to roam.
She taught me then that our life is so very precious
A gift fron an extraordinary God who is so gracious!
She finally gave up the fight on a Sunday afternoon
With my father beside her in a bright and sunny room!!!!
