Dan's Handiwork

Dan's Handiwork

Dan loved to make things with his hands
>From roads and sidewalks to desks and parade stands.
He loved to make things extremely strong and sturdy.
In building, he never minded if he got himself dirty.

Dan built federal highways for his main occupation.
He loved pouring concrete and asphalt at job locations.
Dan enjoyed the designing, planning, and supervising.
He hated the paper pushing and political compromising!

Dan built fancy decks and painted houses by word of mouth.
This extra money went to Catholic schools and vacations south!
He loved working outside and doing top quality work.
Having his four sons to help him was definitely a perk!

Somehow, Dan found time to make some things for us.
Before he started building anything, we had to discuss
Exactly what was wanted in intricate and lengthy details
That included what type of moldings and even the kind of nails!

Dan took great pride in doing our own home repairs.
He fixed everything, including the squeaky stairs!
Sometimes these jobs became somewhat complicated
Then Dan would get help or read a book to get educated.

Dan acted like a little kid with all of his tools.
Before we could use them, we had to hear the rules.
He was extremely patient when i needed something done.
He would try to make the job out to be something fun!!

Dan knew God had given him his talented hands
And he was never selfish and shared them with friends.
His responsibility to provide for us, Dan did not shirk.
He was always thankful to God for his ability to work.
