Autumn's leaves whisper their final farewell
Before they descend to the ground to brown and dwell.
Plumes of fireplace smoke practice making loop the loops
As a single sentry, a gallant goose, watches his troops
Cautiously traverse a perilous crossing against traffic
And gray squirrels senselessly scurry and wreak havoc.
White-tailed deer daringly leap and precariously bound
Running recklessly to avoid the hunter's next round.
The first, frightening frost paints abandoned patches
Of orphan pumpkins with silvery glitter and snatches
Up any remains of hope that plant growth will continue!
November nods its head knowing that life must bid adieu!
